One of Danny's patient's hooked us up with an awesome deal at a lodge in Boulder, Utah... so we decided to go on a road trip and explore a part of Utah we had never seen before! We had so much fun! The drive was absolutely beautiful with all the trees changing colors... I love Fall! Here are the girls striking a pose just outside our room...
Here we are trying to capture some of the beautiful colors of our drive.. We are definitely not professional photographers and it's hard to tell how beautiful it was!
Day 1: We hiked Calf Creek Falls. It was 6 miles round-trip and the girls made it the whole way...almost! (They rode on shoulders a little bit!) They were the only kids on the hike, and they entertained us all by pretending they were witches and riding on brooms (sticks) and "hexing" things! The highlight of the hike, for Danny, was when we ran into a snake and I freaked out! Hailey was leading the way, of course, and when we saw the snake I flipped out and ran away from Hailey and left her alone! (Mom Fail!) It was just a garter snake and we were all ok, but Danny enjoyed making fun of me! The waterfall at the end was awesome and well worth the hike!
Day 2: We set out to explore "Spooky" and "Peek-a-boo" Slot Canyons. We didn't think we would do the whole hike, but we ended up making the loop. We hiked through Spooky Canyon and then out Picaboo. It was really cool, and a little spooky too! The girls did great and so did my mom (which was impressive)! This was definitely the girls favorite hike. Hailey said it was her "best day ever!"
On the way back from the slot canyons, we stopped at Devil's Garden. It had some cool rock formations and arches. It reminded me of a little "Arches". We had a lot of fun climbing on all the rocks.
Day 3: We stopped at Bryce Canyon on the way home. We had never been to Bryce Canyon and it was definitely worth the drive! It was a pretty incredible sight. I'm not generally afraid of heights, but it's definitely a place that is a little nerve-racking with little kids!
Hailey thought this looked like Elsa's Castle...
We had a great, short, road trip and it was hard to come back to reality! But we definitely made some fun memories!
