Our Adoption Story

Danny and I truly believe that things happen for a reason and that Heavenly Father does hear and answer our prayers.  We also believe that Heavenly Father's timing does not always match with our desires and that he definitely has a sense of humor.  Here is our story:
Danny and I got married in December of 2004.  Shortly after getting married, in a casual conversation with my best friend Lindsey, Danny said: "Don't worry, we will wait to have kids until you get married!"  Of course this is just a normal thing people say and none of us thought much more about it.
Fast forward 6 years.  Danny and I had been happily enjoying being married, but had not been able to have children.  Lindsey had dated some cute guys, but was not in any sort of relationship.  After doing a few different fertility procedures, we met with a specialist in July of 2010 and learned that our only real hope was doing In-Vitro.  After a lot of thinking and praying about it we decided we would do In-vitro in November.  We chose November because at the time I was teaching 6th grade and that was when I was off-track.  As of July, my friend Lindsey was still not dating anyone.  Sometime between July and October, she started dating someone, they got engaged and married!  (Yes, I'm serious!)  When she called me and told me that she was engaged and was getting married in October I was of course super-excited for her.  When I got off the phone, I thought, "Oh my gosh, this is actually going to work... I am going to get pregnant!"
We did In-vitro in November, as planned, and were blessed with twin girls!  We know that Heavenly Father does answer prayers and looking back, we can see that it was, in fact, great timing.
Since then, we have done In-vitro 3 more times and have not been successful.  Although our struggles with infertility have been difficult, we believe that they have truly brought us closer together in our marriage. We also feel like it has blessed us as parents. We know it is a blessing and a miracle for each one of our children to be part of our family. We try not to ever take our roles as parents for granted and truly enjoy our girls! Being parents has been the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding part of our marriage so far! We feel strongly that our family is not yet complete. We hope and pray that we will be able to add another child to our family through adoption. Hailey and Mckenzie pray for a baby almost every night in their prayers. I think they are a little confused on what their roles will be, because the other night Hailey prayed that "we need a baby" and that "we will all be great parents"! We have seen the miracle of open adoptions through our neighbor's experience. They have been able to adopt two wonderful children and have great relationships with both of their birth moms and families. I came across a quote that sums up our feelings towards an open adoption: "There is no limit to the amount of love a person can give or receive." This quote helps us to remember that no child can have too many people in their lives who love him or her. We look forward to meeting you and can't wait to get started on this new adventure!
